You want to make a change in your life. You might not have someone in your life who takes your drive to do that seriously. That matters less than you think.
You may feel sad about it, or even grumble occasionally, but you don’t need to let it stop you.
You can take yourself seriously. Do work and hold it to a high standard, as if you were your own boss. Deliver as much as you can, even if it means showing up early or staying late. Bring a positive attitude. Keep your promises. Take on as much responsibility as you’re capable of. Accept and work through the tension of contradictions.
Take your work seriously. Don’t take your ego so seriously.
When you do, and you hold yourself accountable for your actions, other people naturally start taking you seriously as well.
