Be your own co-founder (or publisher, or distributor, etc.)

The most effective way to get something done is to do it yourself. Rely only on yourself, and pick up all the skills you need along the way. Scope things down.

Paul Graham writes, “I’m skeptical when people tell me they’re very determined to make their startup succeed, but they can’t find a technical cofounder. If you’re determined, you can learn to program.”

Your resolve to learn the skills you need could, paradoxically, draw in the people with the skills and expertise you need to get to the next level.

That doesn’t mean it’s the most enduring way or the most impactful; no doubt, you won’t be able to replace a technical cofounder or CTO.

But, you will get much closer learning to do whatever it is you need to do—to make something acceptable—than letting the search for talent get in your way.
