Aligning process with results

Earlier in my career, I focused on work that gave me energy. Some of my projects made no money (like Prologue, my early writing at Medium, etc.). I took on projects that could subsidize them. I really enjoyed this way of working. I felt free, energized, and curious.

In this season of my career, I have shifted my focus on what’s effective. I committed to full time marketing work. While some of my work still doesn’t make money, my priority is focused on my marketing career. I see drastic changes in the financial results, and I’m grateful for the new options available to me. I feel confident, disciplined, and purposeful. It feels like I am in the middle of a growth phase. It feels like time is on my side.

In this season, I enjoy the results more than I enjoy the process. That’s what I’m focused on now: discovering and creating new stories to enjoy the process, like learning to love the business model. (Here are some questions on my mind!)
