Good Enough

There are enough people who don’t like how software has evolved, don’t need all of the bells and whistles (and don’t want to pay for it), and remember how much simpler software used to be. It’s how I feel about the music app, Doppler.

I don’t know the team at Good Enough, but it seems like that’s where they are finding their sweet spot. They build apps like Pika, Jelly, and Album Whale.

Pika isn’t the most powerful blogging software, but it’s the one that my friend Michael chose to start his blog. (I found out about Pika and Good Enough through Michael!)

Jelly isn’t the most powerful email software, but it’s positioned to prioritize people-to-people connections, while remaining affordable for small teams.

Album Whale was the first Good Enough project, when one of the founders personally just listed albums they were listening to—and the team decided to make it possible for everyone to do that.

“If we like a thing and we have some decent taste, maybe other people will like the thing. If we like our version of team collaboration, which is different than other people’s [in price and functionality], maybe other people will also like that,” Good Enough explains on the IndieRails podcast.

This feels like a fun psychographic opportunity worth keeping an eye on.
