Some of the most dangerous driving happens when a person leaves late and still tries to make it to the destination on time. They figure they’ll save time in traffic. Or, in other words, they rush.
Experts do not rush. Experts know how long a process inherently needs to take. They embrace the German word Eigenzeit, which Oliver Burkeman translates as “the time inherent to a process itself.”
A deliverable takes this long to make. A plan takes this long to put together. A piece of work takes this long, no sooner.
Once you’ve done the hard work of figuring out how long things take, stick to your knowledge and don’t budge under pressure.
Everyone will be happier.
