Remember the idea now, not later

What if an idea mattered more now, than it did later? What if the process was more important than the result?

A notemaker scribbled his thoughts on the corners of newspapers and envelopes. He would, inevitably, always lose them. When his grandson asked him why he did this, he replied, “I’m not writing this down to remember it later. I’m writing it down to remember it now.”

As the grandson, Jim Coudal, recalls this story (18:00), he likened his grandfather’s practice to that of an artist carrying a sketchbook

Create a surface like this, where you can document your ideas, if you don’t have one already.

Remember the idea now, not later; be present with it. Make it a little bit more real in a way that dreaming or talking about it doesn’t.
