Just five minutes

It’s been a while since I completed an audiobook. In my mind, an entertaining podcast requires less commitment, and doesn’t quite need as much energy either. I rarely need to write down a note when I listen to a podcast, but I often need to with an audiobook. I also learn a lot from audiobooks and I end up feeling much more satisfied with what I hear than with the entertainment podcasts I usually listen to.

One habit that keeps me grounded to reading books is to listen to an audiobook for five minutes. After that, I’m free to change to something else.

This is a pretty helpful tactic to get started on a lot of stuff that’s good for you in the long-term, but difficult to get started on. You can certainly do it for five minutes, so give it just that. You can take a break after.
