You can always choose to be calm: Even if someone’s intentions are to insult you, or have fun at your expense, you can choose to respond in a different way.

Impress as few people as possible: I’ve used this blog post often to remind myself when meeting friends, acquaintances, and strangers to be myself, and that there’s no real need to impress any of them—just as I wouldn’t expect them to try to impress me.

Don’t let a misunderstanding distract you from your goals: While this title isn’t as tight as I’d like, Virgil’s story in it comes to mind. You don’t have to see yourself the way other people see you.
