Over 2 million people have bought Tim Ferriss’s book, The 4 Hour Workweek. Let’s say the goal of the book was to set the reader up to create a lifestyle where they don’t need to find a job. While they might need to work more than four hours, success means they’ve designed their lives for greater independence.

It’s plausible that 2,000 people who have read the book have set up their work in a way where they don’t need to find a job. That’s 0.1% of the book’s readers.

If we broaden the definition of success up—for the reader to simply earn more money, get started on a business, or pivot their careers—it’s possible that even 20,000 people have achieved that. That’s 1% of readers.

If you’ve published a useful nonfiction book, making sure it reaches more people is a good way to make sure it creates more value.

P.S., How many more people accessed the ideas outside of the book—such as Tim discussing it in an interview or in his podcast?
