Graduation eyes

I first heard about this term in the context of graduating from school. Because your everyday routines are about to change—the coffee stand you visited before your classes, the booth in your favorite library, the river you pass by on the walk to school—they also become more special. Not only this: you’re about to enter a new life stage, one that you haven’t experienced before. New adventures, new pressures, new people.

There is something similarly magical about moving away from your home. Your heart will long for the people and places you used to walk past without a second glance. The farther you move, the more work you’ll need to do to see them again. You might not even know when the next time will be. And the only thing you might actually know about your destination is that it’s not home. You hope that you’ll like it.

Letting go is difficult. It’s easy to come up with all sorts of smart reasons not to do it. Graduating is on the roadmap, though. You will get pushed towards it. Moving will require your initiative. You will need to push yourself.
