Create space for the things you want, so they can find you

What do you want more of in your life? Have you created space and time for it?

It’s easy and comfortable to fill spaces with things you’re familiar with or good at. It’s difficult and uncomfortable to create space for the things you want, especially when they’re unfamiliar.

If you’ve been yearning to travel, you need to create space in your life to plan and budget for it. This might mean staying in a little more often for a few weeks or months, and saving your work holidays for the trip. You’ll know you’re doing it right when you feel slightly bored. If you’re open to different destinations, and you have flexible timing, you can find a good flight deal. That takes space too.

Another example: if you want more romance in your life, you need to create space in your life for that as well. This might mean taking up space that ordinarily would have been filled by friends, family, or work. Instead of seeing friends 1-1 for coffee, maybe you’re going on a first or second date with somebody new. Or you might be showing up to events where you don’t know anyone, so you can mingle. You’ll know you’re doing this right when it feels slightly uncomfortable.

When you create space for something you want, you are also creating conditions that it will find you. You are also reminding yourself that you deserve the things you want. It’s a good practice.
