People and businesses offer all sorts of incentives to encourage you to behave the way they want you to.
For example, an airline may offer discounts on multi destination trips instead of return trips. Or a credit card may offer points that you can travel with, in exchange for your continued use.
These incentives can be very powerful, and may conflict with your other needs and goals.
You always have the option to reject this incentive, simply by opting out. It may cost you a bit of money in the short run, and you may feel some FOMO. It may also free you up to find a better system—or incentive—in the long run.
It’s a nice reminder that while incentives are powerful, you can choose to be in control.
