My good friend Faiz is a pro basketball coach. Yao Ming hired him to coach China’s national team. He has also personally coached NBA champion Lu Dort. You can see him briefly in Netflix’s doc Court of Gold. 

He’s gotten a lot of other coaching experience too. You’d never guess: he’s been doing all of this while battling a rare form of brain cancer, astrocytoma.

Faiz is an absolute inspiration. I’m not sure that I’ve heard him complain about his cancer once, and he hasn’t let his circumstances stop him from progressing as a basketball coach and leader.

There’s a new oral medication that can help Faiz stabilize his brain tumor growths. He is raising funds for his treatment through GoFundMe (I am a co-organizer).
