This reflects so much of what I’ve come to feel. In the past I’ve fallen deep down the note taking rabbit hole, setting up Byzantine Obsidian vaults that promise some sort of intellectual transcendance but which I inevitably quietly abandon some months later. I think for a particular (anxious?) sort of personality these methods can be especially enticing, promising an escape from the fear of uncertainty (forgetting, fallibility, human nature… death 😉) but leaning in to that, at least in my experience, just acts as avoidance that only deepens the negative emotions I was trying to escape in the first place.
